James is Four Months Old!

He's four months old?!? Where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday that he was this big:
And now he's this big!
We're still working on smiling for the camera. Right now he's like " Why is mom hiding behind that scary silver lens?" We go to the pediatrician next week, so we'll find out how long he is and how much he weighs. Unfortunately he is sleeping like he was in that first picture, getting up 2-3 times a night and needing to eat at least one of those times. We think he has hit a huge growth spurt in the past week or so as well. The timing really couldn't have been worse for me since I've been sick and quite busy/stressed at work, which sent my breastmilk supply tanking. My goal is to breastfeed him until at least 6 months, so I hope I can get it increased back to a level to do that. In the meantime, we're adding in a couple ounces of formula to his bottles at daycare (since he is eating almost 7 ounces at a time now), and I just have to get used to not sleeping through the night again!

This month James started rolling from his back to his tummy, and he has recently remembered how to get back to his back, so there is a lot of rolling going on in our house! He is getting so strong during his tummy time. The arms and legs start flailing, so it is only a matter of time before he gets coordinated enough to start scooting across the floor. Guess that means I'll have to vacuum a little more often, huh? As you can see, he can sit up by himself (supported) for short periods of time. We work on sitting in the Bumbo chair (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2324072 if you don't know what that is), and we purchased an exersaucer the other weekend (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2585699), which he is still getting used to. He has found that he has quite a voice inside him. He loves to carry on and on and squeal with delight. We're so lucky to have such a happy baby!

Jayne and Gary are visiting this weekend, so there will be a lot of playing with James going on. I think all the snow has melted (again), and it should be a pretty decent weekend by Chicago standards. Maybe Chris and I will even get out for a "date" since we have some grandparents to take advantage of!
